  • I’ve seen this repeated a few times and I don’t think it really holds up. Drake Berentz (who gives his name as Nate Haggers because racists think that’s funny) did not really mention anything about eating pets. The guy is a piece of shit and maybe they helped spread the initial post but that piece of shit’s words at the council meeting are not the source. It really just seems to stem from the casually racist Karen on social media who is sad now that everything has blown up.

Although if Berentz (who is a carnie) is the one who made the fake 911 call back in late August about Haitians eating geese in the park, I am clearly wrong.

  • There is a difference between undesirable corner cases and the garbage that is first past the post. Changing it to even ranked choice increases engagement and how politicians politic. So changing the voting system does indeed help a whole host of problems. There are obviously some other things that need to change like having publicly funded elections, increasing the House of Representatives and having multi member districts, making the Electoral College obsolete, etc.

  • Nobody is asking Biden to fire DeJoy. But Biden has had the ability to replace him since May 2022. The Board of Governors decides the Postmaster General. A simple majority vote can change the Postmaster General. The current make up is

    • 3 Republicans
    • 3 Democrats
    • 1 independent
    • 2 vacancies

Only two of those people are Trump nominees. Biden nominated a Republican and a Democrat in May 2022 when he could have just nominated one Democrat which would have given Democrats the majority. Only six governors are required for quorum.

So yes, DeJoy is absolutely Biden’s guy too. The annoying thing is that Democrats in the Senate are fine with it. Biden has two nominees that have been waiting on confirmation for a while now.

Let’s not provide cover for bullshit. USPS governor confirmations cost no political capital.

  • I did read the above explanation and it books down to “it’s complicated” and “Congress doesn’t want to rock the boat.” And you say that there is too much other shit on fire. Guess who pointed this out as a fire? Democrats. I absolutely agree that it is a fire and needs to be put out. . It’s not even that much political capital since they have control of the Senate and a USPS governor confirmation has absolutely never made front page news.

You are assuming that I think they see benefit in keeping him around. I don’t think they do. I also don’t think they ever really gave a shit in the first place.

  • Bullshit. The Board of Governors can approve a new Postmaster General. The law says that the makeup of the board can only have a majority party such that it has one more member than the minority party.

Current makeup of the board of governors:

    • 3 Democrats
    • 3 Republicans
    • 1 independent
    • 2 vacancies

There are only two governors that were placed there by Trump (both Republican). The last two governors placed were a Democrat and a Republican back in May 2022.

So sure, it may be the Republicans and one independent mucking it up but Biden could literally change that at any time and could have since May 2022. His last nominations could have been two Democrats. Instead, it was one Republican and one Democrat.

Let’s not provide cover for bullshit. This is a pretty clear failure by the Biden administration.
